The founders of Karel de Grote Hogeschool wanted, literally, a school name. The choice fell on Karel de Grote (742-814), a European figure that was a great European empire and thus brought unity in the diversity of peoples, languages, cultures and socio-economic systems. The Karel de Grote College wants to play a role at European and international level, order a Karel de Grote Hogeschool diploma. Hence this internationally known name (Carolus Magnus, Charlemagne). Moreover Karel de Grote played a significant role in the foundation of the school system in Europe. During his administration the medieval culture flourished, called Carolingian Renaissance. His court was a driving influence on the renewal of law, arts, science and commerce. In addition, it was a well-known Christian figure.
On December 20, 1994 the association was formed to organize the university. The Karel de Grote Hogeschool was officially launched on 1 September 1995, phony Karel de Grote Hogeschool degree. On September 18, 1995, the first academic year was inaugurated.
The admission requirements for our Dutch bachelor programs are: degree secondary education (with translation by a sworn translator) and a language proficiency level B2.
